Dr Callie Seaman

HONORARY RESEARCHER AT SHEFFIELD HALLAM UNIVERSITY, DIRECTOR AQUALABS & HEMPIRE SPECIALISING IN CANNABIS CULTIVATION & SECONDARY METABOLITE PRODUCTION

Dr Callie Seaman is a veteran of the hydroponic industry. First studying for a degree in Biomedical Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University, during which she worked at GlaxoSmithKline,  she went on to complete a PhD on The Investigating nutrient solution for hydroponic growth of plants. During her PhD she became a director by helped to set up the hydroponic nutrient manufacturing company Aqualabs Ltd, creating brands such as Shogun and Silver bullet. In 2018 she continued at Sheffield Hallam with a Post Doctorate role monitoring metal uptake into Soya crops. For the past 20 years and throughout all of this time, Callie has been passionate about the medicinal properties of cannabis and decided to join the team at Hempire Ltd in October 2018, a Licenced medicinal cannabis cultivator based in the UK.

Dr Callie gave a really informative presentation, she covered the plant, phytocannabinoids, extraction processes and differences between them, lab testing and what they test for and what parents should be looking for in products. She then spoke about her own use with cannabis in treating her epilepsy.

Dr Bonni Goldstein

A native of New Jersey, Dr. Bonni Goldstein received her undergraduate education at Rutgers College.

She pursued her medical degree at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Her post-doctoral education included internship and residency at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

Dr. Goldstein also served as Chief Resident at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. She was a Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics at USC School of Medicine in Los Angeles, Emergency Transport Attending Physician at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and Emergency Medicine Attending Physician in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.

In 2008, Dr. Goldstein developed an interest in the science of medical cannabis after witnessing its beneficial effects in an ill friend. Since then she has been evaluating both adult and pediatric patients for use of medical cannabis. Dr. Goldstein has given numerous lectures to many patient support programs, including the Cancer Support Community, Southern California Prosthetics, and Pediatric Epilepsy. She has also lectured at CannaMed 2016 at Harvard University, United in Compassion Medical Cannabis Symposium in Sydney, Australia,  Patients Out of Time 2015, and United Patients Group Conference 2016.

She is currently the Medical Director of Canna-Centers, a California-based medical practice devoted to educating patients about the use of cannabis for serious and chronic medical conditions.  She is a Medical Consultant to WeedMaps.com.  She is a Member of the International Association of Cannabis as Medicine, the International Cannabinoid Research Society, and the Society of Cannabis Clinicians.

Dr. Goldstein held a webinar for Medcan and spoke about the latest studies to show how and why cannabis can be of benefit, she spoke about the benefits of whole plant over isolates and how they dose and treat epilepsy in California. She also spoke of the problems they have had in accessing cannabis and something we can learn from and help guide industry moving forward here in the UK.

It was a really informative discussion and many families took a huge amount away from it.
